Widar Kristoffersen (Trondheim): Fish or Farm? Aquaculture Research and the Norwegian Research Councils, ca. 1970-1990
Vortrag im Oberseminar "Perspektiven der Wissenschaftsgeschichte"
03.12.2020
Lakseeventyret - the "salmon fairytale" - is a term that attempts to capture the Norwegian perception of salmon farming as a distinctly Norwegian industry with nigh-infinite potential for growth, and in which the country is a world leader. The industry is also thought of as research-intensive, which has led to significant government investment in R&D, primarily organized through official research organs. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the industry, this has led to challenges in coordination between various institutions. My project examines how the Norwegian research councils worked to incorporate different forms of knowledge to create the modern salmon farming industry.
